“Heart projects – a handful of happiness”: fundraising campaign by domeba

How the Chemnitz software manufacturer takes additional pain away from telephone counseling

The Chemnitz-based software provider domeba supports regional social institutions with fundraising campaigns such as “Heartfelt projects – a handful of happiness”. The projects supported with the donation of 777.77 euros were suggestions from employees of the family-run company. domeba’s interest in the organizations it supports does not end with the donation, but extends to personal on-site visits.

With 26 years on the market, domeba is one of the leading providers of compliance management software in Germany. The Chemnitz-based employer is committed to society with annual donations. Founder and owner Matthias Domes involved his employees in the selection of social organizations in his “Heart Projects – a Handful of Happiness” campaign, which has already taken place several times . At the end of 2023, he called on domebians to suggest regional institutions that are close to their hearts. The prerequisite was that they were charitable or church organizations as well as non-profit associations from the region. In an internal process, the management decided on a handful of heart projects:

  • Diakonie Stadtmission Chemnitz eV – Telephone Counseling Chemnitz
  • HeartMoo for Cows eV
  • German Child Protection Association Zwickau District Association
  • Blessing, youth and social project at Lessingplatz
  • TuS Ebersdorf eV / Table Tennis Department

The donations in the amount of the lucky number of 777.77 euros each were made directly at the end of 2023.

In addition, domeba is interested in getting to know the selected initiatives personally. The first meetings took place in February 2024 with the German Child Protection Association Zwickau District Association e.V. and the Diakonie Stadtmission Chemnitz e.V. – Telephone Counseling Chemnitz. To this end, thedomebians visited their proposed organizations on site. In the joint discussion, they not only got to know the charitable work of the associations in more detail , but also the positive effects that such a donation can have.

The volunteers of the Zwickau Child Protection Association provide advice to children, teenagers, young adults and parents with worries and problems on the anonymous telephone number “Nummer gegen Kummer”. The donation will go towards the volunteer work in the form of new purchases and further training opportunities.

The Chemnitz City Mission also relies on volunteers to help in many areas of its work. Sabrina Jäger , head of the advice centers at the Chemnitz City Mission eV, reports that a satisfactory implementation of social services is not possible without additional financial support: “Regular funding from various sources is increasingly declining, and the need for support from clients remains as great as ever.”

The donation of 777.77 euros will go towards the purchase of a new seat, which is needed to ensure a pleasant and healthy working atmosphere for the volunteers. “An armchair that is now very old and worn out can now be exchanged and replaced with a new, modern one. The majority of those involved in the telephone counseling service are people of retirement age. Comfortable seating not only helps people concentrate better on the counseling conversation, but is also essential for a healthy and pain-free working day,” says Sabine Jäger, describing the use of the donations.

Matthias Domes to support young, green and healthy projects with his company domeba: “Only together can we make the world a better place. That is why it means a lot to me to support social initiatives that help people and animals and make them happier.”
